High Tor State Park is a state park on the north edge of the Town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, New York. High Tor State Park is on South Mountain. According to the book "50 Hikes In The Lower Hudson Valley" by Stella Green and H. Neil Zimmerman, the mountain is labeled as 'South Mountain' on the Long Path trail map, an example of which is on page 110 of the book. South Mountain has two tors named High Tor and Little Tor. Its highest peak, High Tor, is 832 feet (254 m) high.

The park is for day use during the Summer months. The park has picnic tables, a pool and showers, hiking, and a food concession. The Long Path passes through the park.

Famous quotes containing the words high, state and/or park:

I’ll walk, but not in old heroic traces,
And not in paths of high morality,
And not among the half-distinguished faces,
The clouded forms of long-past history.
    Emily Brontë (1818–1848)

He was discontented and wasted his life into the bargain; and yet he rated it as a gain in coming to America, that here you could get tea, and coffee, and meat every day. But the only true America is that country where you are at liberty to pursue such a mode of life as may enable you to do without these, and where the state does not endeavor to compel you to sustain slavery and war and other superfluous expenses which directly or indirectly result from the use of such things.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The label of liberalism is hardly a sentence to public igominy: otherwise Bruce Springsteen would still be rehabilitating used Cadillacs in Asbury Park and Jane Fonda, for all we know, would be just another overweight housewife.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
