Covers and Reviews

In November 1966 the song was covered by Bobby Vee. In 1998, the song was later covered by Thurston Moore singer, songwriter and guitarist of Sonic Youth on the Beach Boys tribute album Smiling Pets, which was only released in Japan. Recently the song was re-recorded by Brian Wilson and his band in his 2002 live album Pet Sounds Live. Stephen Davis, who reviewed Pet Sounds, stated that "Here Today" "portrays a pessimism and disaffection that jars with the previous optimism. It is the end of the affair..." Donald Guarisco of Allmusic described the song as "a highlight of Pet Sounds" and "one of Brian Wilson's most ambitious arrangements."

Famous quotes containing the words covers and/or reviews:

And so we ask for peace for the gods of our fathers, for the gods of our native land. It is reasonable that whatever each of us worships is really to be considered one and the same. We gaze up at the same stars, the sky covers us all, the same universe compasses us. What does it matter what practical systems we adopt in our search for the truth. Not by one avenue only can we arrive at so tremendous a secret.
    Quintus Aurelius Symmachus (A.D. c. 340–402)

The skilful Nymph reviews her force with care:
Let Spades be trumps! she said, and trumps they were.
    Alexander Pope (1688–1744)
