SHiFT
SHiFT is GearBox Software's way to reward fans with additional in-game items for Borderlands 2, such as Golden Keys, loot and other goodies. It is not compatible with redeeming pre-order bonuses like Premiere Club. SHiFT can link to PSN, Steam and/or Xbox Live accounts Through the Borderlands 2 in game menu, or though the website http://shift.gearboxsoftware.com
On Oct 05 and 06, 2012 GearBox released several redeemable SHiFT code's for all platforms. 5 codes per platform were released. These codes unlocked Golden keys that allowed access to the Special Golden chest in Sanctuary, and the powerful rare loot inside.
A second round of SHiFT codes were released on Oct 26th and 27th, 2012. For a total of five extra golden keys.
There are currently documented ways of exploiting this feature of the game.
