Gas Blending - Quantities and Accuracy

Quantities and Accuracy

To avoid oxygen toxicity and narcosis, the diver needs to plan the required mix to be blended and to check the proportions of oxygen and inert gases in the blended mix before diving. Generally the tolerance of each final component gas fraction should be within +/-1% of the required fraction. Analysis instruments commonly used by recreational/technical diving gas blenders are typically capable of a resolution of 0.1% for both Oxygen and Helium.

Famous quotes containing the words quantities and/or accuracy:

    The Walrus and the Carpenter
    Were walking close at hand:
They wept like anything to see
    Such quantities of sand:
“If this were only cleared away,”
They said, “it would be grand!”
“If seven maids with seven mops
Swept it for half a year,
Do you suppose,” the Walrus said,
“That they could get it clear?”
“I doubt it,” said the Carpenter,
    And shed a bitter tear.
Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (1832–1898)

Such is the never-failing beauty and accuracy of language, the most perfect art in the world; the chisel of a thousand years retouches it.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
