Fur Clothing

Fur clothing is clothing made of furry animal hides. Fur is one of the oldest forms of clothing; thought to have been widely used as hominids first expanded outside of Africa. Some view fur as luxurious and warm; however others reject it due to moral beliefs. The term 'a fur' is often used to refer to a coat, wrap, or shawl made from the fur of animals. There is often a lot of controversy around wearing fur coats, often because traders who are not regulated often skin the animals when they are still live leaving the animal in large amounts of pain until they slowly die. Animals are often thrown against the floor and held down while they are skinned.

Famous quotes containing the words fur and/or clothing:

I have no doubt that they lived pretty much the same sort of life in the Homeric age, for men have always thought more of eating than of fighting; then, as now, their minds ran chiefly on the “hot bread and sweet cakes;” and the fur and lumber trade is an old story to Asia and Europe.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I know not what you believe of God, but I believe He gave yearnings and longings to be filled, and that He did not mean all our time should be devoted to feeding and clothing the body.
    Lucy Stone (1818–1893)
