Death and Funeral
Faisal bin Fahd died of a heart attack in King Faisal Specialist Hospital, Riyadh on 21 August 1999, shortly after returning from the Pan Arab Games held in Jordan. He was admitted to the hospital due to his heart problems just hours before the death. His father, King Fahd, could not return Saudi Arabia from Marbella where he had been to attend Faisal's funeral due to his medical condition. On 22 August 1999, funeral prayers were held for him in Riyadh with the participation of then Crown Prince Abdullah, late Prince Sultan, late Prince Nayef, Arab dignitaries and hundreds of Saudis.

Famous quotes containing the words death and, death and/or funeral:
“Life springs from death and from the graves of patriot men and women spring living nations.... They think that they have pacified Ireland. They think that they have purchased half of us and intimidated the other half. They think that they have foreseen everything, think they have provided against everything; but the fools, the fools, the fools, they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Ireland holds these graves Ireland unfree shall never be at peace.”
—Patrick Henry Pearse (18791916)
“...here he is, fully alive, and it is hard to picture him fully dead. Death is thirty-three hours away and here we are talking about the brain size of birds and bloodhounds and hunting in the woods. You can only attend to death for so long before the life force sucks you right in again.”
—Helen Prejean (b. 1940)
“That poor little thing was a good woman, Judge. But she just sort of let life get the upper hand. She was born here and she wanted to be buried here. I promised her on her deathbed shed have a funeral in a church with flowers. And the sun streamin through a pretty window on her coffin. And a hearse with plumes and some hacks. And a preacher to read the Bible. And folks there in church to pray for her soul.”
—Laurence Stallings (18041968)
