European Route E20

The European route E 20 is part of the United Nations International E-road network.

It runs roughly west-east through Ireland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia and finally Russia. The length is 1,880 km (1,170 mi).
The road is not continuous, at three points, a sea crossing is required. Roll-on/roll-off ferries make the crossings from Dublin to Liverpool and from Stockholm to Tallinn. No vehicle carrying vessels traverse the North Sea from Kingston-upon-Hull to Esbjerg (as of Feb 2011).

Famous quotes containing the words european and/or route:

Unsophisticated and confiding, they are easily led into every vice, and humanity weeps over the ruin thus remorselessly inflicted upon them by their European civilizers.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

The route through childhood is shaped by many forces, and it differs for each of us. Our biological inheritance, the temperament with which we are born, the care we receive, our family relationships, the place where we grow up, the schools we attend, the culture in which we participate, and the historical period in which we live—all these affect the paths we take through childhood and condition the remainder of our lives.
    Robert H. Wozniak (20th century)
