Aim
The Energy Community aims at establishing a common regulatory framework for energy markets in contracting parties by extending the acquis communautaire of the European Union to the territories of participating countries. It covers the relevant fields of energy, environment, and competition of the EU legislation. After entry into force, the treaty acquis has been extended on several occasion. It now also includes legislation in relation to security of supply, energy efficiency, oil, renewable energy and statistics. In line with the update at the EU level, the Energy Community tranposes and implements the EU's Third Energy Package since September 2011.

- in twelve months (by 1 July 2007) implement the two EU energy market directives and the regulation on cross-border network access.
- from 1 January 2008 liberalization of the market for all non-household customers.
- by 31 December 2011 reduction in the sulphur content of certain liquid fuels.
- from 1 January 2015 liberalization of the market for all customers.
- by 31 December 2017 limitation of emissions of certain pollutants into the air from large combustion plants

Famous quotes containing the word aim:
“The problem of culture is seldom grasped correctly. The goal of a culture is not the greatest possible happiness of a people, nor is it the unhindered development of all their talents; instead, culture shows itself in the correct proportion of these developments. Its aim points beyond earthly happiness: the production of great works is the aim of culture.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
“Beauty, like all other qualities presented to human experience, is relative; and the definition of it becomes unmeaning and useless in proportion to its abstractness. To define beauty not in the most abstract, but in the most concrete terms possible, not to find a universal formula for it, but the formula which expresses most adequately this or that special manifestation of it, is the aim of the true student of aesthetics.”
—Walter Pater (18391894)
“Every community is an association of some kind and every community is established with a view to some good; for everyone always acts in order to obtain that which they think good. But, if all communities aim at some good, the state or political community, which is the highest of all, and which embraces all the rest, aims at good in a greater degree than any other, and at the highest good.”
—Aristotle (384323 B.C.)
