History
It is historically important because it has been ruled by five dynasties: Kakatiya dynasty, Bahmanis, Qutub Shahis, Mughals, and Asaf Jahis. It was the headquarters of Karimnagar during the Nizam dominion.It is believed that there is a secret tunnel connecting Elagandal Fort and Manakondur Fort (9 km away from Karimnagar on the Karimnagar-Warangal highway).
It houses a Mosque and an Eidgah the designated place for special Eid prayers.
