It has gained increasing attention among scholars and policymakers in the last several decades in Europe, North America, Japan, and elsewhere (Spaargaren, Mol and Buttel, 2000; Mol, Sonnenfeld and Spaargaren 2009; Redclift and Woodgate, 2005, 1997; Dickens, 2004). It is an analytical approach as well as a policy strategy and environmental discourse (Hajer, 1995).

Famous quotes containing the word ecological:

The question that will decide our destiny is not whether we shall expand into space. It is: shall we be one species or a million? A million species will not exhaust the ecological niches that are awaiting the arrival of intelligence.
    Freeman Dyson (b. 1923)
