Famous quotes containing the words east, china, normal and/or university:
“If the east wind doesnt prevail over the west wind, then the west wind will prevail over the east wind.”
—Chinese proverb.
“Riot in Algeria, in Cyprus, in Alabama;
Aged in wrong, the empires are declining,
And China gathers, soundlessly, like evidence.
What shall I say to the young on such a morning?
Mind is the one salvation?also grammar?
No; my little ones lean not toward revolt.”
—William Dewitt Snodgrass (b. 1926)
“To try to control a nine-month-olds clinginess by forcing him away is a mistake, because it counteracts a normal part of the childs development. To think that the child is clinging to you because he is spoiled is nonsense. Clinginess is not a discipline issue, at least not in the sense of correcting a wrongdoing.”
—Lawrence Balter (20th century)
“One can describe a landscape in many different words and sentences, but one would not normally cut up a picture of a landscape and rearrange it in different patterns in order to describe it in different ways. Because a photograph is not composed of discrete units strung out in a linear row of meaningful pieces, we do not understand it by looking at one element after another in a set sequence. The photograph is understood in one act of seeing; it is perceived in a gestalt.”
