History
Dow Air Force Base's origins begin in 1927 with a commercial airport known as "Godfrey Field". Northeast Airlines began commercial operations in 1931. With the outbreak of World War II, the civil airport was taken over by the United States Army Air Corps and was renamed as Godfrey Army Airfield.
