Discworld (video Game) - Ideas and Themes

Ideas and Themes

The game was titled Discworld: The Trouble With Dragons while it was in development.

There is a subtle easter egg in the game that is activated by double clicking on the sheep in Nanny Ogg's back yard. Many more secrets can be found throughout the game. In another easter egg, Rincewind states that he "want to be the first person in a game to say fuck". This may be a homage to the eulogy delivered at Graham Chapman's funeral where John Cleese seized the opportunity to become “the first person ever at a British memorial service to say 'fuck'.” A similar, albeit censored line is also hidden in the sequel.

Famous quotes containing the words ideas and, ideas and/or themes:

One reason writers write is out of revenge. Life hurts; certain ideas and experiences hurt; one wants to clarify, to set out illuminations, to replay the old bad scenes and get the Treppenworte said—the words one didn’t have the strength or ripeness to say when those words were necessary for one’s dignity or survival.
    Cynthia Ozick (b. 1928)

We are told to maintain constitutions because they are constitutions, and what is laid down in those constitutions?... Certain great fundamental ideas of right are common to the world, and ... all laws of man’s making which trample on these ideas, are null and void—wrong to obey, right to disobey. The Constitution of the United States recognizes human slavery; and makes the souls of men articles of purchase and of sale.
    Anna Elizabeth Dickinson (1842–1932)

In economics, we borrowed from the Bourbons; in foreign policy, we drew on themes fashioned by the nomad warriors of the Eurasian steppes. In spiritual matters, we emulated the braying intolerance of our archenemies, the Shi’ite fundamentalists.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
