Famous quotes containing the words air, lines and/or flight:
“There is an air of last things, a brooding sense of impending annihilation, about so much deconstructive activity, in so many of its guises; it is not merely postmodernist but preapocalyptic.”
—David Lehman (b. 1948)
“Your letter is come; it came indeed twelve lines ago, but I
could not stop to acknowledge it before, & I am glad it did not
arrive till I had completed my first sentence, because the
sentence had been made since yesterday, & I think forms a very
good beginning.”
—Jane Austen (17751817)
“Fear of error which everything recalls to me at every moment of the flight of my ideas, this mania for control, makes men prefer reasons imagination to the imagination of the senses. And yet it is always the imagination alone which is at work.”
