Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center
The Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center is the park's environmental center, and contains interpretive exhibits about the area's natural, cultural and local history. Naturalists, rangers and volunteers give daily educational programs about nature and the environment. Exhibits at the 6,000 sq ft (560 m2) facility include local plants and wildlife, Deep Creek Lake and its watershed, conservation issues and local coal and logging industrial activities.
The center is operated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Famous quotes containing the words deep, creek, lake, discovery and/or center:
“To me the meanest flower that blows can give
Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears.”
—William Wordsworth (17701850)
“It might be seen by what tenure men held the earth. The smallest stream is mediterranean sea, a smaller ocean creek within the land, where men may steer by their farm bounds and cottage lights. For my own part, but for the geographers, I should hardly have known how large a portion of our globe is water, my life has chiefly passed within so deep a cove. Yet I have sometimes ventured as far as to the mouth of my Snug Harbor.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Like a canoe route across the great lake on whose shore
One is left trapped, grumbling not so much at bad luck as
Because only this one side of experience is ever revealed.
And that meant something.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“The gain is not the having of children; it is the discovery of love and how to be loving.”
—Polly Berrien Berends (20th century)
“Children cant be a center of life and a reason for being. They can be a thousand things that are delightful, interesting, satisfying, but they cant be a wellspring to live from. Or they shouldnt be.”
—Doris Lessing (b. 1919)
