Recent History
Cramton Bowl is widely regarded as being functionally obsolete for major sporting events. It is not the stadium's relatively small capacity that is a concern as much as its age and condition. The stadium has not been well maintained over the years, and by the start of the 21st century it was actually crumbling. These issues were factors although not the predominant ones, in the Blue-Gray Game not being held in 2002 and its subsequent relocation in 2003 to Troy, Alabama's Movie Gallery Stadium, about 50 miles (80 km) from Montgomery.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“No one can understand Paris and its history who does not understand that its fierceness is the balance and justification of its frivolity. It is called a city of pleasure; but it may also very specially be called a city of pain. The crown of roses is also a crown of thorns. Its people are too prone to hurt others, but quite ready also to hurt themselves. They are martyrs for religion, they are martyrs for irreligion; they are even martyrs for immorality.”
—Gilbert Keith Chesterton (18741936)
“As History stands, it is a sort of Chinese Play, without end and without lesson.”
—Henry Brooks Adams (18381918)
