Future Developments

In April 2011 the zoo announced the Islands project. To be built to the South West of the current zoo, it will include a boat ride around the enclosures for visitors to view some of the zoos key species including Sumatran orangutans, Malayan tapirs, lemurs, crocodiles, and Komodo dragons, and other reptiles, birds, and invertebrates. Construction will start in 2012 and take about 18 months. Islands will showcase areas where the zoo is involved in conservation programmes, including Sumatra, Madagascar, the Mascarene Islands, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

Famous quotes containing the words future and/or developments:

Peace does not appear so distant as it did. I hope it will come soon, and come to stay; and so come as to be worth the keeping in all future time. It will then have been proved that, among free men, there can be no successful appeal from the ballot to the bullet; and that they who take such appeal are sure to lose their case, and pay the cost.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

The developments in the North were those loosely embraced in the term modernization and included urbanization, industrialization, and mechanization. While those changes went forward apace, the antebellum South changed comparatively little, clinging to its rural, agricultural, labor-intensive economy and its traditional folk culture.
    C. Vann Woodward (b. 1908)
