Marriage and Issue
Around 1163, Casimir married with Helen (ca. 1140/42 – ca. 1202/06), daughter of Duke Conrad II of Znojmo, scion of a Moravian cadet branch of the Přemyslid dynasty. They had seven children:
- Maria (1164–1194), married in November 1178 to Prince Vsevolod IV of Kiev.
- Casimir (ca. 1165? – 1 March 1167).
- Bolesław (ca. 1168/71 – 16 April 1182). He died accidentally, after falling from a tree.
- Odon, died in infancy.
- Adelaide (ca. 1177/84 – 8 December 1211), foundress of the convent of St. Jakob in Sandomierz.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or issue:
“Either marriage is a destiny, I believe, or there is no sense in it at all, its a piece of humbug.”
—Max Frisch (19111991)
“Your child...may not call you or other people names.... Dont be tempted to gloss over this issue. You may be able to talk to yourself into not minding being called names, but this decision may come back to haunt you in later years. If you let a preschooler speak disrespectfully to you now, youll have a much harder time of it when your child is a preteen and the issue resurfaces, which it is likely to do then.”
—Lawrence Balter (20th century)
