Camp Mackall is an active U.S. Army training facility located in eastern Richmond County and northern Scotland County, North Carolina, south of the town of Southern Pines. The facility is in close proximity to and is a sub-installation of Fort Bragg (home to the XVIII Airborne Corps, the 82nd Airborne Division and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Headquarters).
Camp Mackall is the setting of primary training to become a member of U.S. Army Special Forces. Inside the camp is the Resistance Training Laboratory, a mock prisoner-of-war camp in which special operations forces soldiers are trained in resistance techniques for use if captured by enemy combatants.

Famous quotes containing the word camp:
“Usually the scenery about them is drear and savage enough; and the loggers camp is as completely in the woods as a fungus at the foot of a pine in a swamp; no outlook but to the sky overhead; no more clearing than is made by cutting down the trees of which it is built, and those which are necessary for fuel.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
