Famous quotes containing the words bristol, ferry, boat and/or company:
“Through the port comes the moon-shine astray!
It tips the guards cutlass and silvers this nook;
But twill die in the dawning of Billys last day.
A jewel-block theyll make of me to-morrow,
Pendant pearl from the yard-arm-end
Like the ear-drop I gave to Bristol Molly
O, tis me, not the sentence theyll suspend.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“And my eyes are blue;
So ferry me across the water,
Do, boatman, do!
Step into my ferry-boat,
Be they black or blue,”
—Christina Georgina Rossetti (18301894)
“Building up a familys fortune is like moving earth with a needle, but losing a familys fortune can be as swift as a boat rushing downstream with the current.”
—Chinese proverb.
“... we may remember what the Romans ... thought a cultivated person ought to be: one who knows how to choose his company among men, among things, among thoughts, in the present as well as in the past.”
—Hannah Arendt (19061975)
