The Black Bishop is native to Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Its preferred habitats are grasslands, shrublands, and wetlands.
