Bashkortostan
The Republic of Bashkortostan (Russian: Респу́блика Башкортоста́н, Respublika Bashkortostan; ; Bashkir: Башҡортостан Республикаһы, Başqortostan Respublikahı), also known as Bashkiria (Russian: Башки́рия, Bashkiriya; ) is a federal subject of Russia (a republic). It is located between the Volga River and the Ural Mountains. Its capital is the city of Ufa. Population: 4,072,292 (2010 Census).
The state has strong ties with its neighbor Tatarstan.
