Australian Road Rules

The Australian Road Rules (the Rules) are a set of model road rules developed by the National Road Transport Commission (NRTC) which form the platform for State and Territory road rules across Australia. The first edition of the Rules was published on 19 October 1999, and marked a milestone in road safety policy and legislation across Australia.

Famous quotes containing the words australian, road and/or rules:

The Australian mind, I can state with authority, is easily boggled.
    Charles Osborne (b. 1927)

A route differs from a road not only because it is solely intended for vehicles, but also because it is merely a line that connects one point with another. A route has no meaning in itself; its meaning derives entirely from the two points that it connects. A road is a tribute to space. Every stretch of road has meaning in itself and invites us to stop. A route is the triumphant devaluation of space, which thanks to it has been reduced to a mere obstacle to human movement and a waste of time.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)

The rules of drinking games are taken more serious than the rules of war.
    Chinese proverb.
