Asena
Asena (asenā) is the name of one of the ten sons who were given birth by a mythical wolf in old Turkic mythology. It is associated with a Göktürk ethnogenic myth "full of shamanic symbolism." However, Ziya Gökalp mentioned of Asena in his article titled "Türk devletinin tekâmülü" (published in the Küçük Mecmua magazine in Diyarbakır, 1922) as follows: "According to Chinese people, Asena means wolf." Thus, in Turkey, the popular conclusion is that Asena should be the name of the female wolf in the myth.
