Antoine Charles Louis De Lasalle

Antoine Charles Louis Lasalle (10 May 1775, Metz – 6 July 1809) was a French cavalry general during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars known as “The Hussar General.” He led from the front and was a brilliant commander of large formations of cavalry. He became well known for his many daring exploits and adventures behind enemy lines, including sneaking deep into Austrian territory to spend the night with a noblewoman, and capturing Stettin and its garrison with fewer than 500 hussars.
