Ann Widdecombe - Stage Acting Career

Stage Acting Career

Following her retirement, Widdecombe made her stage debut, on 9 December 2011, at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford in the Christmas pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, alongside Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood. In April 2012, she had a ten minute non-singing cameo part in Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera La Fille Du Regiment, playing Duchesse de Crackentorp. She will reprise her pantomime performance, again with Revel Horwood, at The Swan Theatre, High Wycombe in December 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words stage, acting and/or career:

I know that each stage is not going to last forever. I used to think that when he was little. Whenever he was in a bad stage I thought that he was going to be like that for the rest of his life and that I’d better do something to shape him up. When he was in a good state, I thought he was going to be a perfect child and I would never have to worry; he was always going to stay that way.
—Anonymous Parent of An Eight-Year-Old. As quoted in Between Generations by Ellen Galinsky, ch. 4 (1981)

I have no acting technique.... I act instinctively. That’s why I can’t play any role that isn’t based on something in my life.
    Ethel Waters (1900–1977)

It is a great many years since at the outset of my career I had to think seriously what life had to offer that was worth having. I came to the conclusion that the chief good for me was freedom to learn, think, and say what I pleased, when I pleased. I have acted on that conviction... and though strongly, and perhaps wisely, warned that I should probably come to grief, I am entirely satisfied with the results of the line of action I have adopted.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)
