Ancient China

The history of the Guqin, an ancient Chinese musical instrument, is a long one. It is mentioned in Chinese writings dating back nearly 3,000 years, and it is the most prestigious of all Chinese musical instruments. Chinese legend says the qin originally had five strings, but then two were added around 1000 BCE.
