Across The Pathways of Space - Outline

Outline

These seven short Valérian stories were unobtainable for many years. Initially published during the 1970s in Super Pocket Pilote in digest size, they constituted a sort of laboratory of ideas and forms where Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières tried out plots, created characters, invented flora and fauna and juggled with the paradoxes of space-time.

Across the Pathways of Space combines humour and spontaneity, invention unleashed and rigorous logic, thus preceding much of what would become the saga of Valérian and Laureline, discoverers of distinction and voyagers of infinity. Unavailable for more than 15 years, these seven adventures were finally published together in 1997.

Famous quotes containing the word outline:

The beginning of an acquaintance whether with persons or things is to get a definite outline of our ignorance.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

A true poem is distinguished not so much by a felicitous expression, or any thought it suggests, as by the atmosphere which surrounds it. Most have beauty of outline merely, and are striking as the form and bearing of a stranger; but true verses come toward us indistinctly, as the very breath of all friendliness, and envelop us in their spirit and fragrance.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is the business of thought to define things, to find the boundaries; thought, indeed, is a ceaseless process of definition. It is the business of Art to give things shape. Anyone who takes no delight in the firm outline of an object, or in its essential character, has no artistic sense.... He cannot even be nourished by Art. Like Ephraim, he feeds upon the East wind, which has no boundaries.
    Vance Palmer (1885–1959)
