1970 Caribbean Series
After nine years of absence, the XIII edition of the Caribbean Series (Serie del Caribe) was revived in 1970 without Panama or Cuba. It was held in Caracas, Venezuela from February 5 to February 10 at Estadio Universitario and featured three teams from Dominican Republic (Licey), Puerto Rico (Ponce), and Venezuela (Magallanes). The format consisted of 12 games, with each team facing the other teams three times. Because the series was so small, each team had to face each other in one night.

“It is a curious thing to be a woman in the Caribbean after you have been a woman in these United States.”
—Zora Neale Hurston (18911960)
“The professional celebrity, male and female, is the crowning result of the star system of a society that makes a fetish of competition. In America, this system is carried to the point where a man who can knock a small white ball into a series of holes in the ground with more efficiency than anyone else thereby gains social access to the President of the United States.”
—C. Wright Mills (19161962)
