Winneba, is a town and the capital of the Effutu Municipal District in Central Region of Akanland. Winneba has a population of 58,750 people. Winneba, traditionally known as Simpa, is an historic fishing town in Akanland, lying on the south coast, 90 miles (140 km) east of Cape Coast. Its inhabitants are known as Simpafo or Effutufo.
