Campaign To Honor Monitor
The Cleveland Civil War Roundtable is mounting a grassroots campaign to persuade the United States Congress and the Navy to name a Virginia-class submarine after Monitor. Despite the enduring fame of the original, there has not been a Monitor listed in the Naval Vessel Register since the landing ship was placed in reserve 1961.
