University of Northern Philippines

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) is a state university located in Barangay Tamag, in the City of Vigan in the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. It is the first and oldest state university in Northern Luzon, tracing its roots to 1906, which is older than the University of the Philippines by two years. It is the only State University in the province, but one of three state-owned educational institutions of higher learning operating in Ilocos Sur, one being the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College; and the other being the Northern Luzon Polytechnic State College, a former branch of the university.

Famous quotes containing the words university and/or northern:

Poetry presents indivisible wholes of human consciousness, modified and ordered by the stringent requirements of form. Prose, aiming at a definite and concrete goal, generally suppresses everything inessential to its purpose; poetry, existing only to exhibit itself as an aesthetic object, aims only at completeness and perfection of form.
Richard Harter Fogle, U.S. critic, educator. The Imagery of Keats and Shelley, ch. 1, University of North Carolina Press (1949)

You’ll wait a long, long time for anything much
To happen in heaven beyond the floats of cloud
And the Northern Lights that run like tingling nerves.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
