Permitted Development is development that is granted planning permission by The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 (the "GPDO 1995"), which is a Statutory Instrument that applies in England and Wales. Schedule 2 of the GPDO 1995 specifies the classes of development for which planning permission is granted, and specifies the exceptions, limitations, and conditions that apply to some of these classes. The GPDO 1995 was made by the Secretary of State under authority granted by sections 59, 60, and 333 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

Famous quotes containing the words permitted and/or development:

The cultivation of one set of faculties tends to the disuse of others. The loss of one faculty sharpens others; the blind are sensitive in touch. Has not the extreme cultivation of the commercial faculty permitted others as essential to national life, to be blighted by disease?
    J. Ellen Foster (1840–1910)

John B. Watson, the most influential child-rearing expert [of the 1920s], warned that doting mothers could retard the development of children,... Demonstrations of affection were therefore limited. “If you must, kiss them once on the forehead when they say goodnight. Shake hands with them in the morning.”
    Sylvia Ann Hewitt (20th century)
