National Playing Fields Association

The National Playing Fields Association (NPFA), from 2007 rebranded as Fields in Trust (FIT), was founded in 1925 and granted a Royal Charter in 1933. It is a British charity which aims to protect and promote open spaces for sports and recreation in British cities and towns.

As well as campaigning to protect playing fields and open space, the NPFA is the owner of the King George's Fields, 471 public recreation grounds set up as a memorial to King George V.

Famous quotes containing the words national, playing, fields and/or association:

There is no national science just as there is no national multiplication table; anything that is national is not scientific.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)

I recently learned something quite interesting about video games. Many young people have developed incredible hand, eye, and brain coordination in playing these games. The air force believes these kids will be our outstanding pilots should they fly our jets.
    Ronald Reagan (b. 1911)

When we walk, we naturally go to the fields and woods: what would become of us, if we walked only in a garden or a mall?
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

In this great association we know no North, no South, no East, no West. This has been our pride for all these years. We have no political party. We never have inquired what anybody’s religion is. All we ever have asked is simply, “Do you believe in perfect equality for women?” This is the one article in our creed.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)
