Mirani Tribe
Mirani (Urdu: ميرانی, Sindhi: ميراڻي) from the Arabic Amir (أمير) Mir (مير) + -âni (انی), meaning "The Descendants of Mir" or "Amir", is a Baloch tribe settled in Sindh and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan as well as Hormozgān, Kermān, South Khorasan, Sistan and Baluchestan provinces of Iran. The Mirani tribe has historically been inspired by Amir Hamza and some tribes even own manuscripts of the Hamzanama. The tribe is known to have maintained order along the Indus River particularly in Sindh, and are known to have helped and escorted the Mughal Emperor Humayun upriver in the year 1543. They speak Sindhi, Balochi and Persian and are found mainly in Pakistan and Iran.
Famous quotes containing the word tribe:
“The tremendous outflow of intellectuals that formed such a prominent part of the general exodus from Soviet Russia in the first years of the Bolshevist Revolution seems today like the wanderings of some mythical tribe whose bird-signs and moon-signs I now retrieve from the desert dust.”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
