Organizations
There are many NGOs which are actively working to improve the life in Ladakh like LEDeG, LEHO, the Leh Nutrition project, Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), Women's alliance and v working towards conservation of wildlife, community outreach and environmental education programs. LEDeG has been working actively since 1971 to install hydraulic rams to improve the water supply in the region. It has also been successful in setting up hydro-power projects in the otherwise energy-starved region.
