Kevin Kugler - Dial Global

Dial Global

Kugler has worked for what is now Dial Global's sports broadcasting arm since 2004, when the network still bore the Westwood One name. That year, he began covering the College World Series for Westwood One and continues to do so to this day. He also was the network's lead voice for NCAA football broadcasts until 2009, when Westwood One elected to suspend the broadcasts.

Upon the death of Harry Kalas, Kugler was promoted to Westwood One's NFL broadcasts to take his place alongside color analyst and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mark Malone. The two have worked together since the 2009 season. Beginning in 2012 Kugler also is the primary substitute announcer for Dial Global's Sunday night coverage, replacing Howard David as Dave Sims' substitute for when Sims' Seattle Mariners broadcasting duties keep him away from the booth.

In 2008, Kugler replaced Kevin Harlan as Westwood One's lead play-by-play voice for the Final Four and has called the games ever since alongside John Thompson and Bill Raftery.

Famous quotes containing the words dial and/or global:

A man is reputed to have thought and eloquence; he cannot, for all that, say a word to his cousin or his uncle. They accuse his silence with as much reason as they would blame the insignificance of a dial in the shade. In the sun it will mark the hour. Among those who enjoy his thought, he will regain his tongue.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The Sage of Toronto ... spent several decades marveling at the numerous freedoms created by a “global village” instantly and effortlessly accessible to all. Villages, unlike towns, have always been ruled by conformism, isolation, petty surveillance, boredom and repetitive malicious gossip about the same families. Which is a precise enough description of the global spectacle’s present vulgarity.
    Guy Debord (b. 1931)
