Famous quotes containing the word fitting:

    1st Guard. Is this well done?
    Charmian. It is well done, and fitting for a princess
    Descended of so many royal kings.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    Greater glory in the sun,
    An evening chill upon the air,
    Bid imagination run
    Much on the Great Questioner;
    What He can question, what if questioned I
    Can with a fitting confidence reply.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

    We do not quite say that the new is more valuable because it fits in; but its fitting in is a test of its value—a test, it is true, which can only be slowly and cautiously applied, for we are none of us infallible judges of conformity.
