Biography

He served as Prime Minister of Jordan and formed 4 different governments, the last of which was Jordan's longest lasting government in the history of the kingdom. It lasted for a term of 4 years and 20 days from (4 April 1985 to 24 April 1989). His father, Sameer al-Rifai, and his son, Samir Rifai, all served as Jordanian prime minister.

Zaid al-Rifai was the President of the Senate of Jordan from 1997 to 2009. On 12 December 2009, he resigned from office.
