Yewlands Technology College

Yewlands Technology College (formerly known as Yewlands Secondary School) is a secondary school with academy status located in the Grenoside area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The school was originally located on three sites; Elm, Yew and Willow. The school was rebuilt as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme and reopened in September 2009. The new building was designed to make the atmosphere more 'grown up' and college like. The school has under 900 students, which is below the British average.

The school uniform is a v-neck black jumper, either a grey, pink or orange polo shirt and black trousers and shoes. The logo is three circles in the same colours as the polo shirts with 'Y' 'T' & 'C' in them. This is meant to represent unity and togetherness and was designed by a former pupil.

Former pupils include Olympic Long Jumper Sheila Sherwood (née Parkin) who won Silver at the Mexico Games in 1968, and a Commonwealth Gold two years later.

Famous quotes containing the words technology and/or college:

Technology is not an image of the world but a way of operating on reality. The nihilism of technology lies not only in the fact that it is the most perfect expression of the will to power ... but also in the fact that it lacks meaning.
    Octavio Paz (b. 1914)

When a girl of today leaves school or college and looks about her for material upon which to exercise her trained intelligence, there are a hundred things that force themselves upon her attention as more vital and necessary than mastering the housewife.
