Yash Johar was born to Anand Raj Johar on September 6, 1929 in Amritsar, Punjab, British India. He was married to Hiroo Johar and is the father of Indian film director Karan Johar. Johar died on 26 June 2004 in Mumbai, aged 74, of a chest infection though he also been fighting with cancer. After the death of Mr. Johar, his son Karan Johar took the reins of Dharma Productions and has catapulted it to new heights.
