History
Ourimbah School was the first school in what is now Wyong Shire and was built in 1863 on the site of the present railway station. In 1886 the school was moved to the opposite side of the road.
Wyong Station was opened in 1887. However, it was the completion of the Sydney to Newcastle railway in 1889 passing through Wyong, which really started significant expansion and development in the area. The railway enabled the growth of the timber industry with an immense demand for railway sleepers and the transportation to ship it.

“Bias, point of view, furyare they ... so dangerous and must they be ironed out of history, the hills flattened and the contours leveled? The professors talk ... about passion and point of view in history as a Calvinist talks about sin in the bedroom.”
