World Peace Corps Mission is an international missionary organization established since 1989. It is co-founded by late Hon. Robert L. Leggett and Dr. Han Min Su, and operates under the principles of inter-religious collaboration, and in the spirit of altruism and world peace.
Hon. Robert L. Leggett was a nine-term United States Congressman. While visiting Korea in 1961, he met Dr. Han Min Su who is an elder clergyman of the Korean Christian churches. He is also an ex-public relations officer of Pacific Air Forces, and the USA-author of “Goodbye John.” The two gentlemen struck an immediate friendship. In later years, Congressman Leggett continued to be inspired by the faithful Christians in Korea. While witnessing the success of the Peace Corps initiated by U.S. President John F. Kennedy, the two gentleman co-founded the World Peace Corp Mission as a civilian organization emulating the spirit of the United States Peace Corps Volunteer Service.
Famous quotes containing the words world, peace, corps and/or mission:
“The world is a stage, but the play is badly cast.”
—Oscar Wilde (18541900)
“It must be a peace without victory.... Victory would mean peace forced upon the losers, a victors terms imposed upon the vanquished. It would be accepted in humiliation, under duress, at an intolerable sacrifice, and would leave a sting, a resentment, a bitter memory upon which the terms of peace would rest, not permanently, but only as upon quicksand.”
—Woodrow Wilson (18561924)
“The Washington press corps thinks that Julie Nixon Eisenhower is the only member of the Nixon Administration who has any credibilityand, as one journalist put it, this is not to say that anyone believes what she is saying but simply that people believe she believes what she is saying ... it is almost as if she is the only woman in America over the age of twenty who still thinks her father is exactly what she thought he was when she was six.”
—Nora Ephron (b. 1941)
“Perhaps the mission of those who love mankind is to make people laugh at the truth, to make truth laugh, because the only truth lies in learning to free ourselves from insane passion for the truth.”
—Umberto Eco (b. 1932)
