League and FA Cup History
Worksop have spent much of their existence in the Midland League, with brief spells in both the Sheffield and Yorkshire leagues. In 1974, they joined the Northern Premier League Premier Division and remained there until their relegation to Division One in 1989. They were promoted nine years later and were founding members of the Conference North in 2004 before their relegation back to the Northern Premier League Premier Division after three seasons. It is the seventh tier of the English national league system, six leagues below the Premier League.
The Tigers have also reached the last 64 of the FA Cup on four occasions, meeting Chelsea, Southend United and Tottenham Hotspur in the first round in 1908, 1922 and 1923 respectively, whilst narrowly losing to Swindon Town in the third round in 1956. They have made the proper round draw on three other occasions, the most recent of which was 2001, succumbing to Bournemouth 3–0 in the first round with goals from Richard Hughes, James Hayter and Steve Fletcher.

Famous quotes containing the words league, cup and/or history:
“Stereotypes fall in the face of humanity. You toodle along, thinking that all gay men wear leather after dark and should never, ever be permitted around a Little League field. And then one day your best friend from college, the one your kids adore, comes out to you.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
“I worked as a waitress till I was fired because I dumped a cup of hot coffee in the lap of a half-drunk guy who was pinching my butt.”
—Juli Loesch (b. c. 1953)
“History ... is, indeed, little more than the register of the crimes, follies, and misfortunes of mankind.
But what experience and history teach is thisthat peoples and governments have never learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it.”
—Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (17701831)
