Woden Valley - Urban Structure

Urban Structure

A number of community facilities are in this area. Including the Canberra College, a school catering to years 11 and 12 (16 – 18 years old); a library, the Woden Youth Centre, and the Canberra Hospital which is located in the north.

The Woden Town Centre is in the middle of Woden. It includes a major shopping centre, which is known as Westfield Woden, or usually known as Woden Plaza. A number of government buildings are also in the town centre.

George Chauncey, U.S. educator, author. Gay New York: Gender, Urban Culture, and the Making of the Gay Male World, 1890-1940, p. 1, Basic Books (1994)

I really do inhabit a system in which words are capable of shaking the entire structure of government, where words can prove mightier than ten military divisions.
    Václav Havel (b. 1936)
