WMRA

WMRA is the National Public Radio station for most of northwestern Virginia, including the Shenandoah Valley. It is licensed to Harrisonburg, with repeaters serving Charlottesville, Lexington and Winchester. WMRA is owned and operated by James Madison University. The signal area reaches around a quarter of the state, including most of the heavily-truck-traveled Interstate 81 Virginia corridor. WMRA was the first NPR member to put a repeater in the Charlottesville area, where now many listener-supported stations compete.
