The Winnecke Catalogue of Double Stars is an astronomical catalogue of double stars published by Friedrich August Theodor Winnecke on February 8, 1869. It contains some well-known pairs, and a few unknown until that date which became known as WNC objects.
Famous quotes containing the words catalogue, double and/or stars:
“Ay, in the catalogue ye go for men,
As hounds and greyhounds, mongrels, spaniels, curs,
Shoughs, water-rugs, and demi-wolves, are clept
All by the name of dogs.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“American families, however, without exception, experience a double message in our society, one that claims a commitment to families and stresses the importance of raising bright, stable, productive citizens, yet remains so bound by an ideal of rugged individualism that parents receive little support in their task from the public or private sectors.”
—Bernice Weissbourd (20th century)
“Art thou pale for weariness
Of climbing heaven and gazing on the earth,
Wandering companionless
Among the stars that have a different birth,”
—Percy Bysshe Shelley (17921822)
