William Parker High School

William Parker High School

Howell's Parker High School is a vacant public high-school building in Marion Township (Howell, Michigan). It is a part of the Howell Public Schools district and was the sister school to Howell High School. It was completed in August 2007, and the nearly $70 million building is equipped with cutting-edge technology.

During the spring of 2006, construction on the new school advanced on schedule and within budget. Parker High School opened for the 2007-08 school year on September 4, 2007. Due to budget limitations the district was not able to keep Parker's doors open and was shut down in 2008 after one year of use.

Famous quotes containing the words william, parker, high and/or school:

I have been reporting club meetings for four years and I am tired of hearing reviews of the books I was brought up on. I am tired of amateur performances at occasions announced to be for purposes either of enjoyment or improvement. I am tired of suffering under the pretense of acquiring culture. I am tired of hearing the word “culture” used so wantonly. I am tired of essays that let no guilty author escape quotation.
Josephine Woodward, U.S. author. As quoted in Everyone Was Brave, ch. 3, by William L. O’Neill (1969)

Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn. They teach you there’s a boundary line to music. But, man, there’s no boundary line to art.
    —Charlie Parker (1920–1955)

... it is high time that the women of Republican America should know how much the laws that govern them are like the slave laws of the South ...
    Harriot K. Hunt (1805–1875)

The school system, custodian of print culture, has no place for the rugged individual. It is, indeed, the homogenizing hopper into which we toss our integral tots for processing.
    Marshall McLuhan (1911–1980)
