It also introduces several other characters, such as Tess's three cousins and their father Maurice. Famous quotes containing the words wild and/or blood:

The sea, vast and wild as it is, bears thus the waste and wrecks of human art to its remotest shore. There is no telling what it may not vomit up.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

If we must die, O let us nobly die,
So that our precious blood may not be shed
In vain; then even the monsters we defy
Shall be constrained to honor us though dead!
    Claude McKay (1889–1948)
