Wikipedia:Vital Articles

Vital articles is a list of basic subjects for which Wikipedia should have corresponding high-quality articles, and ideally featured articles. It serves as a centralized watchlist and tracks the status of some of Wikipedia's most essential articles.

This page lists 1,000 of the most vital Wikipedia articles, which forms the level 3 vital articles list. An expanded version, targeted to include 10,000 articles, is available at Wikipedia:Vital articles/Expanded (Level 4). There is a shorter list of 100 articles at Wikipedia:Vital 100 (Level 2), and the "top 10" at Wikipedia:Vital 10 (Level 1).

Articles are labelled with the status:

  • Featured articles
  • Former featured articles
  • A-class articles
  • Good articles
  • Former good articles
  • B-class articles
  • C-class articles
  • Start-class articles
  • Stub-class articles

Famous quotes containing the word articles:

There are several natural phenomena which I shall have to have explained to me before I can keep on going as a resident member of the human race. One is the metamorphosis which hats and suits undergo exactly one week after their purchase, whereby they are changed from smart, intensely becoming articles of apparel into something children use when they want to “dress up like daddy.”
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
